Can anyone help us please!!!!!!!!!!!

We were upgrading our album to correct an error in the personal galleries and now we have nothing. The config screens in the admin panel are black, the album pages are blank. I am looking for support from someone. I will give you access to whatever you need to see the problem and help me fix it. Thanks!

Were you upgrading the complete album ?
If so, from what version to what version ?

I think from 1.2 to 1.4.

We would get the remove contrib and install files error. So we were in a catch 22. You can't get in if you don't delete those files, but when we deleted them, the upgrade wouldn't work since it was looking for the contrib files.

Sounds more like you were upgrading the phpBB instead FAP .
You don't get those errors installing/upgrading the album.

Waaaaaaaaaaa! After closer look, I think my parter deleted everything! All pictures and lordy knows what else.

Can someone point me to how I could maybe restore the album without reverting to a back up of the whole forum? Is that even possible? Can you tell me what files and or directories I might need?

He says that he basically uninstalled or removed anything with the word album.

If I can get a back up from my hosting company, pointing us in a direction to fix this would be huge! Thanks!

He says the instructions said to put it in the root directory so that is where he put it. Maybe it did mess with otuer things. Any chance you are willing to look at this for me. You can email me at girljo at the domain duojo and I can give you more information.

You will need a copy of all your pic files from album_mod/upload
and your data from the 5 album tables. Everything else you need is with the FAP download.

Thanks for this. Can you tell me where the 5 album tables "live"? I have to be very precise with Hostasaurus about what I want restored. What about all the pictures themselves? Are they in that upload folder that you referred to? I don't see them in CuteFTP any longer.

Can I add one more question? Should we reinstall the new FAP before restoring those files or wait for the restore?

Your 5 album tables would be in your mySQL database and would be named

• phpbb_album
  
• phpbb_album_cat
  
• phpbb_album_comment
  
• phpbb_album_config
  
• phpbb_album_rate
  

All your pics are in album_mod/upload and are named similar to 4c8f13a88f909b64aadf5027646d7390.jpg

Your database may still be intact....I cannot say for sure though as I'm not certain of what your ex-partner ( :mricy: ) did.
If it was my site and I was not able to access the database to check, I would proceed with the FAP install.
When you run the file fap_install.php if you get errors stating that the tables already exists...that could be a good sign. Next (delete fap_install.php) browse to your album and if your album categories are all there, then most likely all your data is intact ....now all you need is to restore the pics to the upload folder.

If your album categories are not there, you will have to restore your database album tables....If you rely on your host to do this it may be simpler for them to restore your complete database from their most recent back-up (provided that's acceptable to you).... you will still need your pic files restored to the upload folder and you will need to run fap_install.php again

Trouble with restoring everything is that we have good bit of activity on the board and probably even several new members since the disaster struck. I am praying that he didn't go hog wild and delete too much but that was my first thought when I peeked in and didn't see all the image file names as you described. They are gone.

I am going to try to do as you suggested but I also have another question. What if we do things in this sequence:

Do a manual back up of the forum files today.
Close the board to new activity
Have Hostasaurus do a restore of the whole site up until Sunday morning
Then we restore the forum files (but not the FAP files)
Would that work?
Am I getting out of Icyphoenix territory with this question?

If your host does a whole site backup for you, you personally will not need to restore anything.

Does your host not provide you with cPanel or some other site manager ? ... any way for you to access your database ?

We are going to have Hostasaurus do the restore for us, (no self-help method available with them).

Here is where we stand. Joe (the boyjoe partner person), deleted all files he found with the word album. He then reinstalled FAP. We now have TWO Album titles at the top of the page ( I think this is in the language file and I am having him look for that now.)

Anyway, all of my configuration is still there as well as settings, category names etc. and I am assuming that is a good sign. The images are gone but the comments, ratings and what appear to be image place holders (boxes containing the image descriptions) are there.

Is this a good sign?
Should we still restore all album tables and images?
Should I start with just the images?

I would love you to take a look if you can help me please. (Hopefully you can beat Hostasaurus to the punch)

There is only one category that is visible to the public, but that should give you an idea. If you need a log in to see the others, I'll make arrangements for you to do so and send you a PM with the login info.

on first glance, it looks to me everything seems to be working and the database is still intact.

not sure whether your host can do that but you may just wish to ask for the album_mod/upload folder to be restored,thats where the pictures are stored.

for the two times album instances, i would try to look in templates/your style/overall_header.tpl

Thanks that is what we thought too. We are awaiting the restore of that one file now to see if it fixes things.
