Hello,
I was looking around these forums as well as looking through every corner of my ACP to find some way of making a user's posts invisible until it is approved by a moderator. IP has yellow cards, but let's be honest. You have a user that stirs up trouble. You give them a yellow card. They post again only to stir up trouble. What do you do? Keep giving yellow cards or ban them? Wouldn't it be easier to have some sort of system that marks a "trouble user" as needing their posts approved? This would allow his posts to be invisible, not visible to regular users, until it is approved by a moderator or administrator. It seems this would solve nearly all issues with "trouble users", if not all.
I ran across a mod on the phpBB forums. It looks very promising and powerful; powerful enough to be used in IP's already superpowered system. Here is the modification I am talking about:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=444466
Link to test it out:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=2525480#p2525480
Would anyone here be interested in modifying this further to work with IP? I'm pretty sure a lot of IP webmasters could use this.
Thanks
Topic/Posts Approval Mod

I just look at the code edits for this and this is very complicated to install due to the cats heir we have on Icy....
though I have found a work around but it will be a while before I can get it to beta as it is a little way down my list...

I had it installed on my old phpBBXS (that would be still in place if I had not to swap to sql 5)
What i remember is that the most difficult passage was to adapt it to category hierarchy and that there was an adaptation code somewhere.
BTW the users that went on "manual approve" ended all in a ban, actually I keep spammers out with an included script that refers to "project honey pot" and a very simple anti spam-bot mod. I keep out persistent and annoying users with IP range ban in .htaccess , they can't easily come back because almost all the known IPs used to circumvent direct IP access are blacklisted by project honey pot.

I've never had a bot register at any of my Icy Phoenix websites.
The reason I requested this MOD be ported was for the trouble users. What if you had a children based community and one kid is cursing a lot. The kid doesn't have a bad attitude, but a bad mouth. It's better to manually approve his posts and edit out unnecessary foul language than it is to delete what could be invaluable user content.

I have hunted for a fix for cats heir but sadly no luck...
though I have found a modified version of an older version of the mod which is bug free and works with Icy...
Here is some info
I have been testing this and it works really well.... you can hide users post until they have been approved... block whole forums and auto approve certain users...
anyway let me know what you think

the miserable list show no posts anymore from the user. only admin can see what he wrote. i think that has not the same goal

New Player, it does not show the post on the viewtopic, but nor in search or with a quickquote.
I do not know if chaotic needs only the viewtopic or a full podt moderating mod...

What I've read of the Miserable User status in CrackerTracker is they'll be able to post, but only administrators can view their posts. Now if a normal user sees "Blocked By CrackerTracker" in another user's post, they can simply click QUOTE or QUICK QUOTE and they'll be able to see what the user originally posted. That doesn't make sense.
A MOD that will make a post completely private until someone approves it would make more sense. The user may be able to see their own post, but it should say "awaiting approval" or it could just show their post, but in the end, it shouldn't be viewable by anyone but the user and moderator before final approval.

I can give the mod at your first mod a try, both in stable and beta version.
This days I am free due I have finished my exams, so I think it would not be a problem.
