The installation says:
Unknown error while checking this File/Folder. Please make sure that this File/Folder exists on the server and has the correct CHMOD permissions.
This only happens when the CHMOD IS set correctly, it then says the config.php is unwriteable and when i reupload it with CHMOD 777, it still reports the same error

I've had the same problem with installation as this, and the same solution works.  

However, as the table prefix is now 'ip_' rather than 'phpbb_', can you tell me if we have to rename 'PHPBB_INSTALLED' to 'ip_installed'?

I got it fixed, i deleted the install folder anyway and it seems to be working fine.

It is normal to have some errors with CHMOD if your server doesn't allow files/folders writing.

You don't need to modify this var.
